Are you one of those people that love one-pot dishes? This is for you. Everyone makes this dish differently, this is my family’s recipe with my own spin on it. Plov is a rice dish traditionally made with lamb, however, I prefer chicken so that’s the protein I use.
Ingredients
- 1 cup of rice
- 1 ½ cups of water (This is based on using basmati rice, follow the instructions of whatever type of rice you choose to use)
- Grated carrots (Around 3 cups)
- 1 onion
- 3 cloves garlic
- Salt
- Black pepper
- Smoked paprika
- Curry powder
- Dill powder (as garnish, optional)
- Oil for sauteing
Feel free to substitute/leave out the paprika, curry powder, and dill powder if you wish.
Method
Chop the onion & garlic finely. Heat some oil in the pot. Add the onions and garlic. Then add the carrots. Sautee for about 10 minutes. Then add the chicken, water, rice, salt, pepper, paprika, and curry powder. Bring to a boil.

Once boiling, turn on low and cover. Cook until rice is done, about 30 minutes. Once done, spoon onto a plate and add dill to your liking.
Eat while it’s still hot.
