Gifts Your Family and Friends Will Actually Use and Appreciate
The holiday season is officially upon us, whether you think it’s too early or not early enough. I already put up my tree. Relax, I haven’t fully decked it out yet. But it will be happening very soon. I love the holiday season. It is seriously the most magical time of year! I know many of us will be thinking about what to gift our loved ones. So here are some things that I think would make great gifts.

Strapsicle: The Best Kindle/Kobo Accessory
One of my followers recommended I buy straps from Strapsicle so that I can use my Kindle without my wrists hurting. And they were right! I use my two black straps for my Kindle Paperwhite all the time! Strapsicle also sells cases, in case you want that as well.
A Cozy New Read
Speaking of books, I love books. I do love my Kindle, but I also love real books. I have written two different blog posts sharing some of the books that I’ve loved and recommend you read. You can check out the first one here and the second one here. And let me know in the comments of this blog post, what book should I read next?
Something For That Fashion Lover
As someone who absolutely loves fashion, I would be over the moon if someone bought me a gift card to one of my favorite brands or just an item of clothing that they know I’ll love. Selkie is one of the most incredible brands I have yet to come across. But I also love Xpluswear and Astrid Wild. You can find discount codes for most of these and Strapsicle here.
Addicted To Caffeine?
I don’t know about you, but I’m not a human without my morning cup of Joe. Do you or someone you know love coffee as well? Why not get them this coffee set? It includes five packages of ground coffee. You can make the coffee in the bag itself. How cool is that? And if you or someone you know loves to add something delicious to their coffee, check out these Monin coffee syrups. I have several of them myself. I have the toffee nut, roasted hazelnut, French vanilla, and cinnamon roll syrups.
Counting Down The Days
Is there anything more fun than counting down the days until Christmas by opening an advent calendar every day? I never got to do this. So I’ll definitely be purchasing some sort of chocolate advent calendar this year if I’m not gifted one. I know that it isn’t technically a Christmas present. But you can just get it at the end of November and tell your loved one that you thought they’d appreciate it instead of a Christmas present. So it’s an early Christmas present.
Something To Snack On
I know it may seem like an odd choice, but why not get your family and friends snacks? I love carrying around snacks in my bag so I always have something to eat when I’m hungry. You may not always have the time to prepare a proper meal. At least you’ll have something to tide you over until your next meal.
Somewhere To Put Your Cooking Utensils
My friend Sara, who’s an amazing baker, recently reminded me of how I need somewhere to put my cooking spoons and such instead of putting them on the counter. This is such a practical gift. And you can always have several because people cook often and don’t always wash the dishes daily. So a utensil/ladle holder would be a wonderful present.
A Sharp Blade
While we are on the topic of kitchen stuff, how about a good quality sturdy, sharp knife? There is nothing more dangerous than a dull knife. And there is nothing better than chopping things with a knife that will last you a lifetime. Or you can also just buy some knife sharpeners.
Cozy Candles
You can have too many mugs but you can’t have too many candles. Am I right or am I right? Candles burn so you need to keep buying new ones. But they are so worth it. Candles make a room feel so cozy and often smell wonderful. If you’re located in the USA, be sure to check out my sisters-in-law’s candle company. She makes some neat stuff.
Capturing Memories
Yes, smartphones exist, and they are great. But there’s nothing like capturing special moments on a camera lens. Why not gift your loved ones or yourself a photoshoot with a fantastic photographer? I know some wonderful photographers here in the Netherlands who are willing to travel. Check out Amatsooni Photography if you like artsy or cinematic photos, Valentina Brenters Photography if you like cozy or in-studio photos, or Urte Foto if you like bright and airy photos. You can schedule a shoot or just buy a gift voucher.
Everything For The Kitchen
Nil is a private chef specializing in vegetarian food. She’s based in Rotterdam but travels for work when needed. In addition to buying a gift certificate or such for her services, she hosts events, walking tours, and has a online shop filled with food and handmade kitchen items. Just like me, she’s an international in the Netherlands. She’s originally from Turkey. You can check out her website here.
