Many of us are about to put down our laptops, ditch our work clothes, and settle down on the couch to catch up on our favorite movies and shows. But before this year ends, there is something we all should do. It’s time to choose the best health insurance for the coming year.

You may be thinking about everything but doing this. But you really should. Luckily, we live in a country where paying top dollar for mediocre or bad quality isn’t so much a thing. Many of us aren’t loyal to our providers, as we shouldn’t be. The more competitive companies are, the better it is for us consumers. If companies see that we won’t accept their inflated prices, they’ll be forced to charge a more decent price.

Yes, there is a basic insurance price that’s similar for most companies, but once you start adding extras, the price can go up pretty fast. Excluding last year, I switched my health insurance company every single year. Last year, I just remembered too late.

Why Switch Insurance Companies?

So now your question may be: why in the world would I go through the trouble of finding a better health insurance provider? Well, I don’t know about you, but my health is my wealth. And it really should be yours as well. If there’s one thing we really need in life, it’s to be healthy.

Dutch health insurance companies offer discounts and special deals to try and get you to switch to them. So, sometimes, you can save a lot of money by switching companies instead of accepting your current provider’s new price. You should also make sure to update your insurance with any new services you may need.

Some Add-Ons You May Have Not Thought About

For example, I decided to be more dedicated to working out recently. So being able to get physical therapy covered by my insurance is super important. A sports physical therapist can help me if I run into any muscle or joint issues. I also travel often, so being insured abroad is extremely important to me. I was also gifted with crappy teeth, so I need to go to the dentist most often than people with good teeth.

Not all health insurance companies and packages offer the same compensation. I used to have a different health insurance provider, and they didn’t pay for my birth control. Now, my health insurance covers it. If you’re interested in trying for a baby, you’ll need better health insurance coverage. There are so many things you can add or not include in your health insurance plan.

It Is Not as Hard as You Think

Believe it or not, comparing health insurance companies is super easy. I actually didn’t believe it until my Dutch partner showed me. There are multiple websites you can use to compare packages and pricing. I personally use Independer. But you can use a different one if you like it better.

Time to Go Take a Look

The website is super user-friendly and doesn’t take a long time to compare all the different options. You just need to answer some questions about yourself and what you are looking for. Before you know it, you’ll be choosing your new health insurance provider.

I know this goes without saying, but make sure you understand what you’re consenting to and paying for before doing it. Give them a call if you need a question or two answered. Now I need to take my own advice and go compare health insurance for next year.

I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! May we all be healthy and feel amazing.
